HandyReader 1.24.260917 is NOW AVAILABLE!
Hey everyone! HandyReader v1.24.260917 is here!
This is a feature-packed release. The headline is the new auto-reading feature, joined by top and bottom info bars on the reading page, a brand-new About page (with a built-in update checker and the list of open-source libraries used), paragraph color options in reading settings, and support for parsing and rendering PRC e-books. On top of that, this version fixes OPDS permission-based login authentication and a crash when accessing Kavita OPDS services.
What’s New
Auto-Reading
HandyReader can now turn the pages for you. Once enabled, the app flips pages automatically at a pace you can freely adjust — perfect for long reading sessions, binging a novel, or simply reading hands-free in a more relaxed position.
Info Bars on the Reading Page
The reading page can now display info bars at the top and bottom, keeping details like the chapter title and reading progress visible at a glance.
About Page & Update Checker
A new About page brings everything together: app info, a built-in update checker so you can get the latest version without leaving the app, and a complete list of open-source libraries HandyReader is built on, along with their licenses — as an open-source project itself, proper credit matters.
Paragraph Color Options
Reading settings now include paragraph color options, so you can configure how body paragraphs are displayed and build a more personalized reading experience together with your theme and background.
New Format Support
PRC E-Books
HandyReader can now parse and render PRC e-books. PRC belongs to the Mobipocket family of formats — closely related to MOBI — and plenty of older books circulate in this format. They can now be opened directly, no conversion needed.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed OPDS permission-based login authentication — logging into OPDS catalogs with username/password credentials now works correctly.
- Fixed a crash when accessing Kavita OPDS services. Kavita is a popular self-hosted book server, and it should now work reliably.
- Fixed other issues and improved overall stability.
