Hey everyone!

I’m thrilled to announce that HandyReader 1.18.260625 (Build 22) is officially live and ready for download! And this one’s special — the most-requested feature, book excerpt sharing, is finally here! I’ve also given the entire app a thorough Material You M3 facelift, introduced 10 beautifully crafted reading themes with Dark/Light/Auto modes, redesigned the home screen, and added two new recommended OPDS catalogs.

Let’s dive into what’s new!

What’s New?

Book Excerpt Sharing

Share your favorite passages, quotes, and highlights as beautifully formatted images. Long-press to select text, tap the share icon, and share your reading moments with friends — a feature many of you have been asking for, and now it’s here!

Dark/Light/Auto Reading Modes

Quickly switch between Dark, Light, and Auto reading modes right from the reading interface. Your eyes, your comfort, your call.

10 Reading Themes

Introducing 10 carefully crafted reading themes — 5 for dark mode and 5 for light mode. Each theme is tuned with classic, comfortable color palettes that make extended reading sessions a pleasure.

Improvements

Material You M3 UI Overhaul

A deep, system-wide UI review and polish. Every corner of the app now aligns with Material Design 3 guidelines — the bottom navigation bar, app bar, system navigation bar, and status bar have all been unified and refined for a consistent, modern look.

New Home Screen Layout

Added Quick Read and Heatmap pages to the home screen. The overall layout has been redesigned for faster access to what matters most.

Quick Rating & Feedback Pop-Up

Added a convenient entry point for rating the app and sending feedback — your voice helps shape HandyReader’s future.

New OPDS Recommendations

Two new OPDS catalogs have been added as recommended sources: Izzy’s Library (a great resource for German readers) and WenYuanGe (文渊阁, a curated collection for Chinese readers). Happy browsing!

Bug Fixes

Squashed various issues to improve overall stability.

What’s Next

Looking ahead, the most frequently requested feature for the next release is reading sync. This is an important step toward protecting your privacy and keeping your data safe across devices — I’m taking it seriously and putting in the work to get it right.
